ISP inventory management becomes important as soon as routers, ONUs, fiber material, and tools move between office, warehouse, technician, and subscriber locations. If stock is tracked only in notebooks, losses and installation delays become normal.
Track serialized and non-serialized stock separately
Routers, ONUs, OLT modules, and CPE devices often need serial numbers or MAC addresses. Fiber cable, patch cords, clamps, and connectors may be tracked by quantity. Both need different workflows.
Connect installed assets to subscribers
When a device is installed at a customer site, the subscriber profile should show the asset, serial number, ownership status, deposit, warranty, and return history.
Use technician stock ledgers
Technicians should receive stock, consume it during installations or repairs, return unused items, and keep an auditable ledger. This reduces disputes about missing hardware.
Measure stock movement by location
Warehouse, branch, partner, technician, and subscriber-level stock reports show what is available, what is installed, and what needs procurement before new connections are delayed.
